Friday, June 7th was the 3rd annual Douglas Lee Golf Outing at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Douglas Lee was the middle child of Harold and Linda Birschbach and brother to Darin and Dean Birschbach (owner of Agromatic Inc). Douglas was born with Spina Bifida, a neural tube birth defect that occurs when the bones of the spine don’t form properly around part of the baby’s spinal cord. As a result Douglas was confined to a wheelchair for most of his life.
He never let his disability stop him from being the most caring and passionate guy around. He spent his time keeping the farm running from his personal dispatch center. He was an honorary member of the Lamartine Volunteer Fire Department and had his pager attached to him at all times. Douglas was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed everything from the Green Bay Packers to watching his niece’s high school sporting events.
In September 2008 God decided Douglas had made his mark on the world. Douglas always made the lives of people around him richer; therefore in his honor the Douglas Lee Fund was established in 2017. The mission is to give back to our local community organizations that have chosen to honor those in need.
Each year the Douglas Lee Golf Outing helps benefit the Douglas Lee Fund. This year we had 113 golfers! We are proud to be able to make a donation to the Lamartine Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Douglas Lee!
This day wouldn’t have been possible without all our amazing sponsors and volunteers as well as the support from Rolling Meadows Golf Course staff. Thank you to all involved!
